Loris Giusti, Head of MEP’s accounting department, talks about the organization during the pandemic, explaining the critical issues and strengths that the unprecedented condition brought. A company’s accounting department is hardly ever in the limelight, yet it is an essential part of its complex functioning, "the one that supports the management and the other departments in the decisions to be taken", highlights Loris Giusti, Administrative Manager at MEP, the important manufacturer of electronic bending machines in Reana del Rojale.
The importance of the department and the wide range of disciplines that go under the overall name of "administration" are demonstrated, among other things, by the number of collaborators constituting it: the department is composed of more than ten employees.«Here everything comes together - sums up Giusti - every inbound and every outbound flow to gather all the information to compose the balance sheet. Every accounting and tax-related aspect refers to this department». It is a complex reality, called to suddenly deal with everything that COVID-19 has caused, starting from the need to implement the so-called smartworking. «It was a challenging moment - highlights the Manager - because it was beyond imagination. However, thanks to everyone's commitment and the great flexibility that everyone has shown, we have been able to deal with each phase of the pandemic, from the emergency Phase 1 to the recovery ".
The initial approach to smartworking highlighted the lack of physical and immediate confrontation among colleagues, but also "the need to further implement the digitalization of corporate documents, to make remote access and sharing possible to a larger number of processes and functions. A strategic step to continue investing in smartworking, a positive dimension under certain circumstances, which leaves us with a very valuable experience". Generally, adds the Manager, "the condition we have experienced has revealed some critical issues that will evolve positively, giving us the opportunity to keep saving time thanks to interactions managed online rather than physically".
Giusti, dean within the company, has seen MEP evolve over many years and today he considers himself to be "satisfied to be able to work with available and technologically-prepared young people. I believe that MEP is a company that still offers the opportunity to increase its own professionalism, also thanks to its Business School, to continue creating its professional masterpiece here or in other contexts, too».
